Kopalina ( German Kopaline , also Kolonie Kopaline or Mauseberg , 1937-45 Colony Winterberg ) is a place in Upper Silesia . Kopalina is located in the municipality of Pokój in the Namysłowski powiat in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Kopalina is located in the north-western part of Upper Silesia. Kopalina is located about twelve kilometers northeast of the Pokój municipal seat, about 27 kilometers southeast of the district town of Namysłów and 42 kilometers north of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The Schirobanzer Bach flows north of Kopalina and the Stober (Polish: Stobrawa ), a right tributary of the Oder, flows to the northwest . To the south and north of the village there are extensive forest areas that belong to the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park .

history

The Slavic place name Kopalina means roughly place of grave .

The now independent village was originally founded as a colony and belonged to the rural community of Falkowitz . In 1885 124 people lived in the colony.

In 1937 the name of the colony was changed to Winterberg Colony .

In 1945 the previously German town of Winterberg came under Polish administration and was renamed Kopalina and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to Powiat Namysłowski .
