Kozagawa ( Japanese 古 座 川 町 , - chō ) is a place in the district of Higashimuro ( 東 牟 婁 郡 ) in the Japanese prefecture of Wakayama . The city has 2546 inhabitants (as of October 1, 2019) on an area of 294.52 km².
history
In 1956 the city of Takaike ( 高 池 町 ) merged with the villages ( mura ) Myōjin ( 明 神 村 ), Mitogawa ( 三 尾 川村 ), Kogawa ( 小 川村 ) and Shichigawa ( 七 川村 ) to form the new city of Kozagawa. Takeo Takeda ( 武田 丈夫 ) has been the mayor since 2008 (as of January 2013) .
