history

"Schönlinten" was first mentioned in a document in the Frais in 1312. In 1395 the village consisted of 16 farms. In 1424, Schönlind consisted of nine large farms, five small farms and a mill. In the long-running dispute between the city of Eger and the Waldsassen Abbey over ownership and legal relationships in the Frais, a condominium with an annual change of jurisdiction between the city and the monastery was agreed in the interim recession of 1591 . In the Munich Treaty of July 20, 1846, Schönlind was assigned to the city of Eger and thus to the Kingdom of Bohemia.

After the abolition of patrimonial Schönlind formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Gehaag in the district and judicial district of Eger . At that time the village consisted of 14 properties and had 62 inhabitants. The city of Eger operated a basalt quarry on the U Lomu . The parish was Wies . In 1863 the AG of the Bavarian East Railways began building the Waldsassen – Eger railway line , which ran across the fields north of the village. The rail traffic, which began in 1865, did not bring the farmers of Schönlind any advantage; the trains ran between the two cities without stopping. It was not until 1893 that the Schloppenhof station was set up east of Schönlind. At the beginning of the 20th century, the mill on the Wondreb was expanded to include a sawmill and a hydroelectric power station with two turbines, which began operations in 1907 and supplied five villages in Bohemia and four in Bavaria with electrical energy. In 1902 a cemetery was created for the residents of Schönlind, Wies and Schloppenhof. The Czech place name Krásná Lípa was introduced in 1920. In 1930 Schönlind / Krásná Lípa consisted of 22 houses, including 15 four-sided courtyards, and had 148 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the district of Eger until 1945 . After the end of World War II , Krásná Lípa returned to Czechoslovakia and the 127 German-speaking residents were expelled. Rail traffic between Slapany and Waldsassen was stopped in May 1945. In 1946 the village was repopulated with Czechs, including a re-immigrant family from Paraguay . After the Communists came to power in 1948, 18 of the new settlers fled across the border to Bavaria. The remaining 42 inhabitants were resettled from 1949. Then the road connection to Mammersreuth and Egerteich was removed by demolishing the bridge over the Wondreb and border fortifications were built. In 1951 a gang of border guards was stationed in Slapany . The village of Krásná Lípa was devastated until 1957. A border fence and signal systems were built in its place. After the adjustments to the border area, only a few reminds of the village.

Only the cemetery remained, which was left to decay. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, it was restored to a neat condition. A housing estate was built at the former Slapany railway station , which was named Krásná Lípa . Today a cycle path leads to Hundsbach on the railway line.
