The Krähenbach is a 5 km long brook in the Rems-Murr district in Baden-Württemberg , which flows southwards directly below the core town of Backnang from the right into the middle Murr .

geography

course

The crows stream generated at the southern foothills of the Löwenstein Mountains , less than one kilometer southeast of the center of Aspacher village Rietenau and less than 200 meters west of the village Großaspach related the municipality former vineyard slope on the mountain . The origin lies in the southern tip of the forest Erlenhau at about 314  m above sea level. NHN .

The initially only inconsistent water-bearing brook runs its first about 800 meters to the southeast, leaving the Erlenhau, passes through two small ponds at the foot of the lower slope Schneckenberg of the mountain in a woody wet area, which is also fed by seepage springs on the slope, and then reaches the western edge of the Forest island size .

Along this it flows from now on in a damp stream floodplain with small meanders and in a bed about two meters wide with a loamy to muddy bottom through a forest strip of black alder and ash trees, further reinforced by seepage springs on the left slope. Even before the southern tip of the Großer , the forest recedes a bit from the bank, here the drainage ditch of a nearby small forest pool also flows from the left slope. From there, the Krähenbach flows to the side in a narrow meadow hollow and between fields on the hills, accompanied by a row of trees that are repeatedly abandoned.

A little after the forest, the stream crosses the L 1904 Strümpfelbach - Großaspach . On the left slope, a newer industrial area soon stretches from Backnang to close to the brook, which is bordered by two extinguishing water retention basins at the bottom with at most a slight permanent accumulation. Further down the valley, the L 1115 Backnang – Großaspach crosses the valley basin, which is now more than 40 meters deep. The B 14 , which is also the western border of the Backnang development, follows from here on the left slope near the stream.

This now has a distance of about one and a half kilometers ahead of it, with steep embankments accompanying it on both sides. The K 1832 Backnang – Unterschöntal crosses it on this section, on its last hundred meters also the Kirchenweg from Backnang to Oberschöntal . Finally the Krähenbach flows out at around 234  m above sea level. NHN from the right and north into the middle Murr .

The Krähenbach is 5.0 km long and flows about 80 meters below its inconsistent origin in Erlenhau , its mean bottom slope is about 16 ‰.

Catchment area

The Krähenbach has a 5.1 km² catchment area, the very small northernmost part of which naturally belongs to the sub-area Southwest Löwenstein Mountains of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains , while the vast majority of its area and all watercourses belong to the Outer and then the Inner Backnang Bay . In terms of shape, it is about four and three quarters of a kilometer long and at most one and a quarter kilometers wide, which extends from the Berghau mountain spur in the far north, on which it is at almost 380  m above sea level. NHN is the highest point, pulls south to the mouth.

The very short and highest northern watershed on the Berghau separates the catchment area of the left Klöpferbach-Oberlaufs Forstbach , the long right and western almost to the confluence of that of the next right Murr tributary Klöpferbach itself, behind the left and eastern drains the terrain downwards in the settlement area of Backnang in the previous right-hand Murr tributary Eckertsbach .

The greater part of the catchment area, especially on the upper and middle reaches, belongs to the municipality of Aspach , the rest to the city of Backnang . There are only a few houses in Backnang near the mouth of the run itself. To the left of the lower reaches, newer settlement parts of the closed settlement area of Backnang stretch far down the left slope. A few isolated courtyards and tiny fringes of places Großaspachs and Backnangs are also in the catchment area.

NHN less than 200 meters before the K 1904 Strümpfelbach – Großaspach crossing the stream, over 0.1 km and approx. 0.3 km². Even before the start of the artificially drawn trench there is in its natural hollow at about 285  m above sea level. NHN on a field hedge east of the Großaspacher Aussiedlerhof in the ridge of the Bonholz a Seggenried.

Mouth of the Krähenbach from the right and last of all northwest at 234  m above sea level. NHN under the Murrtal viaduct on the western edge of Backnang in the middle Murr . The Krähenbach is 5.0 km long from the highest point of the unstable upper course and has a catchment area of 5.1 km².

geology

The catchment area of the Krähenbach ranges geologically from the silica sandstone ( Hassberge formation ) down to the Upper Muschelkalk .

The plateau in the Berghau in the far north is covered by silica sandstone, there are remains of an earlier sandstone quarry. Below the upper slope of the mountain in the Untere Bunter Mergeln ( Steigerwald Formation ) there is only a narrow band of reed sandstone ( Stuttgart Formation ) on the corridor, under which the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ) begins. In this layer of crows Bach arises and the Gipskeuper follows at least at the left slope to the south end of the forest size , partly disrupted by regions of loess leading flow earth .

The Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ) of the Unterkeuper then appears on the surface for the first time east of Großaspach on the left slope, after the commercial buildings almost down to the brook. After the L 1115 Backnang – Großaspach has crossed the valley, the stream bed is then up to the mouth in the Upper Muschelkalk.

In most of the catchment area, especially on the right side, loess sediments from Quaternary deposits cover the much older tertiary layers mentioned from the gypsum keuper downwards. These obscure a proven west-east moving disturbance, a lateral disturbance of the disturbance bundle connected with the Neckar-Jagst depression moving from southwest to northeast . This richly widening tectonic structure half a kilometer to one kilometer north of the northern catchment area border through the southwestern Löwenstein Mountains.

Nature and protected areas

On less than 0.7 km² of the area in the north there is forest, a good half of it in the Backnang forest dexclave size . In the open country, the fields dominate.

A marginal strip of the large water protection area for the Rietenau mineral water springs extends into the catchment area in the north, especially in Erlenhau. The almost 5 hectare large natural monument alluvial forest and pond on the Krähenbach protects the western edge of the forest island of Größe with a meandering stream and a wetland with seepage springs on the left slope and the aforementioned pond on the edge of the forest.
