The Kreuzbergmaut power plant is a run-of-river power plant in the state of Salzburg , Austria . It is located on the Salzach in the area of the municipalities of Werfen and Pfarrwerfen . About 4 kilometers downstream is the Werfen-Pfarrwerfen power plant . The city of Salzburg is located about 40 km north of the power plant.

Construction of the power plant began in January 1993. The first machine in the power plant went into operation in June 1995. The power plant is owned by VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH and Salzburg AG . It is operated by Salzburg AG.

Barrier structure

The barrier structure consists of a weir on the left and a machine hall on the right side of the river. The weir system is 36 m long and has three weir fields, each 10 m wide and 10 m high.

Reservoir

The barricade dams the Salzach into a small reservoir with a length of 2.7 km. The normal storage target is 537 m above sea level .

power plant

The Kreuzbergmaut power plant has an installed capacity of 17.7  MW . The average annual production is 80 million kWh . The maximum height of fall for the volume of developed water is 10.87 m. The flow rate is 97 m³ / s per turbine.

The two Kaplan bulb turbines with a horizontal shaft each have a maximum output of 9.975 MW and the associated generators 10.5  MVA . The turbines were supplied by the German manufacturer NOELL , the generators by ABB . The first machine went online at the end of June and the second in mid-October 1995. In the switchgear , the generator voltage is increased from 10.5 kV to 30 kV using machine transformers. Two parallel 30 kV cable routes lead from the switchgear to the Pongau substation of Salzburg AG.

The power plant is remotely controlled from the load distributor of Salzburg AG in the city of Salzburg.
