The course of the Kremitz

Headwaters

In the headwaters of the river between the villages of Hillmersdorf, Naundorf , Werchau and Frankenhain there are now peat pits filled with water. The trenches that were created to drain the area contribute significantly to the water balance of the river. The grave ditch, the Neue Kremitz and the Steigemühlenbach are worth mentioning here.

The further course

The Malitschkendorfer Mühlgraben flows into the river on the left near the village of Malitschkendorf . The main direction of flow is west to the village of Polzen. From the confluence on the right-hand side of the Polzen main trench, between Polzen and the Senderwiesen , the river adopts a north-westerly direction of flow. At the height of the Holzdorf airfield , the Bernsdorfer Graben opens on the right. On the left, after about 200 meters, the Kuplache branches off from the Kremitz in the direction of Premsendorf . About 700 meters before the confluence of the Kremitz in the Black Elster, the Kuplache flows back into the Kremitz.

Use of hydropower

The water power of the Kremitz served to drive a water mill in Holzdorf .
