Brenden started in the winter of 1994/95 as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup on an international level for the first time. On February 18, 1996 he made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on the large hill at Iron Mountain . He also won his first World Cup points straight away. In the 1996/97 season started Brenden with a second place in Lillehammer , before jumping on the next day Lysgårdsbakken celebrated his first victory. In mid-December he stood on the podium again in Harrachov and came third. In his first Four Hills Tournament in 1996/97 Brenden started with a good second place in Oberstdorf . However, he did not succeed in consistently achieving these performances, so that in the end he only achieved 11th place in the tour's overall ranking. In 1997 he finished second in the overall ranking of the Nordic Tournament . In the winter of 1997/98 he celebrated his second and last World Cup victory in Zakopane on the Wielka Krokiew . In total, he made it into the top 10 29 times in World Cup competitions , eight times he was able to achieve a podium place. At the ski flying world championship in 1998 in Oberstdorf he was seventh. A short time later he was part of the team for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . There he achieved fourth place with the team in the team competition, eighth place on the normal hill and 13th on the large hill.
In December 2001 he ended his career in which he competed in a total of 77 world cup competitions. Before that, at the beginning of winter 2001/02 he was only active in the B-squad and last started in the Continental Cup.
After the end of his active ski jumping career, Brenden studied sport and psychology at the Technical University of Norway . After completing his master's degree, he took a position at Lillehammer University , where he works as a consultant and study coordinator. He also looks after the Toppidrett group there, which is made up of students with top sport status.
