Krzemienica is a village with a Schulzenamt in the municipality of Czarna in the Powiat Łańcucki of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is located in the Rzeszów foothills - the southernmost part of the Sandomir Basin - on a tributary of the Wisłok , about 12 km east of Rzeszów .

Neighboring towns are the city of Łańcut in the east, Kraczkowa in the south, Palkówka and Strażów in the west and the municipal seat of Czarna in the north.

history

In the late 14th century, a closed German-language island (later called Forest Germans , who were Polish- speaking until the 18th century ) was formed around the town of Łańcut , made up of around ten villages, including the village of Krzemienica, which is traditionally considered to be its oldest settlement. According to the tradition from the 17th century it was founded in 1349, but was first mentioned as Crzemienica on November 23, 1381 (in the location document of the village Langyn Aw , later Husów ) . The document also mentions the mayor of Krzemienica, Hanus Stachar. The name of the village is Slavic, which at least testifies to an older local origin of the name. Perhaps it was depopulated earlier in the Polish-Ruthenian conflict. Krzemienica was also mentioned in 1384 as the first village (and presumably the oldest) in the Tithing Document in the Łańcut area.

In 1492 the first wooden church of Saint James was built.

At least until the 16th century German was still spoken in the village (the German-language jury books).

The landlords of the village, the noble family Pilecki (the descendants of Otto von Pilcza ), introduced Calvinism in the local Catholic church in the 16th century. The Counter-Reformation followed with Marcin Stadnicki, who converted to the Catholic Church around 1585. In 1610 his son was killed there and the village was owned by the Lubomirski family .

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Krzemienica became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804). After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a parish in the Łańcut District from 1850 .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the place became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Krzemienica was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
