Kuigaliai is a village with 409 inhabitants (2011) in Lithuania . It is located in the administrative district of Žeimiai , in the district of Jonava , on the KK144 highway ( Jonava - Kėdainiai - Šeduva ), 20 km northwest of Jonava, 8 km west of Žeimiai . The Barupė (tributary of the Nevėžis ) flows through the village . It is the center of the sub-district. There is a post office (LT-55060), the Kuigaliai reservoir (0.045 km²). A community in the village is active as the community center of Barupė (in 2003 the organization Visuomeninė Organizacija "Barupės Bendruomenės Centras" was officially registered).

history

In 1902 there were 128 inhabitants. Until 1919, Kuigaliai belonged to Wolost Kėdainiai , Wilkomir District . In 1923 49 people lived in the village of Kuigaliai, 55 in the manor, 14 in the hermitage and 18 in the hermitage of Kuigaliai-Pusčė.

In 1940 a primary school was housed in Kuigaliai. From 1919 to 1950 the village belonged to the Wolost Žeimiai in the Kėdainiai district . From 1950 to 1992, the site was the central settlement of Barupė- horticulture - Sowchoses in the former Soviet Lithuania the USSR . Since 1961 there is a library, a cultural center, a post office and an ambulance. In 1989 there were 497 residents.

Several NGO organizations have their headquarters here: Club of Afghanistan War Veterans ( Jonavos Rajono Afganistano Karo Veteranų Klubas ), a public institution (VšĮ Vieni kitiems ).

economy

There used to be an estate here. During the Soviet era, the villagers worked in the fields and gardens of Barupė sovkhos. Instead, the Vaičiuškos JSC Vaičiuškos firm "Barupės sodai" was founded in 2003.

The furniture manufacturer UAB Admodė has existed since 1997 with 20 employees (as of 2019), this company is the largest employer in the village. It produces kitchen, room, hall, bedroom, youth, office and other furniture as well as sliding systems. Other companies registered in Kuigaliai are the agricultural cooperatives (such as Jonavos Rajono Barsukynės ŽŪB , Jonavos rajono ŽŪB Kaimynai, Jonavos rajono ŽŪB "Kuigaliai" etc.), some individual companies (Janinos Morkūnienės įmonė), other companies such as UAB Taktukas (since 2005 to 2010) In 2014 there was also UAB Metstata and until 2013 UAB Barupė.

school

In 1923 a primary school was built in the village of Bogumilava near Žeimiai . The first teacher Povilas Makarskis taught about 10 students. Around 1933 the school was moved to the village of Paduobiai (now Žeimiai district ) and taught from 30 to 40 children. From 1940 the school was located in the village of Kuigaliai. There were 89 students in the 1948/1949 school year. In 1980, the school in the central collective settlement Kuigaliai of Barupė- was State Farm laid.

From 1989 to 1994 there was the nine-year Barupė school, from 1994 the secondary school . On September 1, 2015, the Barupė Secondary School was restructured and connected to the Kuigaliai Crèche and Kindergarten "Drugelis". From August 18, 2015, the school was called the Barupė School of the Jonava Rajons (lit. Jonavos rajono Barupės mokykla ). From September 1, 2018, the elementary school and a parish hall actually existed as a multifunctional center Barupė ( Jonavos r.Barupės mokykla-daugiafunkcis centras ). On September 1, 2019, it was reorganized again and continues to operate as the Barupė department of the Žeimiai multifunctional school center .
