Kukułowo

Kukułowo ( German  Kucklow ) is a village in the municipality of Kamień Pomorski in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Kukułowo is located in Western Pomerania , 7.5 km southwest of Kamień Pomorski (Cammin) at the inlet of the Dziwna (Dievenow), the eastern outlet of the Oder from the Szczecin Lagoon , into the Camminer Bodden.

It was first mentioned in documents in 1335 as Cukelowe . In the 15th century there were three shares that belonged to the Wachholtz , Witting and Zastrow families . After an exchange of goods with the Pomeranian Duke Johann Friedrich , part of the village came into the possession of the Camminer cathedral provost Ludwig von Eberstein in 1579 , who had a castle there as the center of his dominion, but which fell into disrepair again in the 17th century and at the beginning of the 18th century. Century had already completely disappeared. From 1628/30 until his death in 1640, the castle with the Dompropstei was owned by Wilhelm von Kettler, who was deposed as Duke of Courland in 1616 . In 1628 the Dompropstei taxed two Hh , a shepherd and an Instmann , Adam Witting four Hufen. After the Peace of Westphalia on October 24, 1648, Kucklow had to pay taxes to Sweden .

Around 1780 the Dompropstei Kucklow was owned by Friedrich Ehrenreich von Ramin . In 1797 a post mill was put into operation in Kucklow . The Dompropstei Kucklow was dissolved together with the cathedral chapter Cammin in 1811 and the property part belonging to the provost (56.5 hectares) of the village was combined with the long-standing manor in Kucklow. The manor, which was subdivided considerably in 1842, was only 27 hectares in size in 1870, the village measured 326.5 hectares and had 328 inhabitants. Nevertheless, it remained a manor entitled to a district council.

Around 1930 the district of Kucklow had an area of ​​365.9 hectares, it housed 57 residential buildings, and Kucklow was the only place of residence in the municipality. In 1925 there were 258 inhabitants in Kucklow, who were distributed over 62 households.

In 1928 there were three professional fishermen in the lagoon and stream fishing in Kucklow. The last owner of the post mill until 1945 was F. Ehmke.

Until 1945 Kucklow belonged to the district of Cammin i. Pom. the province of Pomerania .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the population of Kucklow received permission to evacuate the village on March 5, 1945, which was also successful in time; on March 6, 1945 Kucklow was occupied by the Red Army . After the end of the war, Kucklow was placed under Polish administration.

The majority of the village population present in Kucklow before 1945 belonged to the Protestant creed; the evangelical villagers belonged to the parish of Zebbin .

Kucklow had his own elementary school until 1945.
