The cultures of Abealzu-Filigosa are short, parallel appearances at the beginning of the Sardinian Copper Age (2700 - 2,400 BC), which essentially continue the Stone Age Ozieri culture and are now jointly regarded as their later stages, the Epi-Ozieri.

  • the Abealzu culture takes its name from a place near Macomer (NU) and is more concentrated in the south of the island (Sardegna meridionale).
  • The filigosaculture (not to be confused with the necropolis of the same name near Macomer) takes its name from a place near Osilo in the province of Sassari (SS) and is widespread in the northern part of Sardinia (Sardegna settentrionale).
  • The Monte Claro culture follows these cultures .

The most important difference between the cultures now understood as a unit lies in the decoration of their ceramics .

The vases of the abeal type have feminine attributes (breasts) as decoration. In the settlements female figures made of marble (Idoli a trafono) were found with raised arms (in adoring position) (Nuraminis-Villagreca, Serra Cannigas (near Cagliari ), Sos Laccheddos). Images designed in this way also show the Domus de Janas by Sas Concas . The culture is also attributed to the erection of menhirs and the production of the first proto-anthropomorphic statue menhirs in Sarcidano ( Laconi ).

The small filigosaculture vases, mostly found as grave goods, have simple decorations or are undecorated. There are also chains with clay elements, bone tools , the use of mussels, arrowheads made of obsidian and weaving weights . The participation in the reconstruction and use of Monte d'Accoddi is attributed to the culture.

The use of metal in this period shows utensils made of copper ( daggers ) and silver as well as the first alloys. The cultures also erected the gallery tombs of Corte Noa and Masone Perdu created statue menhirs and used domus de Janas .
