Kurt Buchter

Kurt Wilhelm Buchter (born February 11, 1923 in Hockenheim ; † April 30, 2011 ) was a German politician . From 1958 to 1978 he was mayor of the Baden-Württemberg city ​​of Hockenheim and was awarded, among other things, the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Federal Cross of Merit.

Life

From April 1, 1958 to March 31, 1978, the journalist, graduate economist and doctorate in political science was mayor of his home municipality. During his term of office there were fundamental developments in the area, including the creation of a school and sports center, the first construction phase of the Aquadrom leisure pool , a reconstruction of the Hockenheimring that led to the construction of the Motodrom , and the merger with the neighboring communities of Altlußheim , Neulußheim and Reilingen to an agreed upon Administrative community and the establishment of the town twinning with the French municipality of Commercy .

On May 12, 1984 Buchter was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit in Ludwigsburg Palace . Although he was politically more of an opponent of the district , he was also the first holder of the ring of honor of the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis . In addition, Buchter was an honorary citizen of the city of Hockenheim and holder of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon .

As a retiree, Buchter wrote two homeland books: Hockenheim in Raum und Zeit (published 1995) and the follow-up work Der Raum Hockenheim at the turn of the millennium (2000).

Buchter died on April 30, 2011 at the age of 88. He was buried in Hockenheim.
