Kurt Friedrich von Flanß

Kurt Friedrich von Flanß (* 1708 ; † February 26, 1763 in Gröbnig near Leobschütz ) was a Prussian major general and chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 3 .

origin

Kurt Friedrich came from the ancient Flanß family . He is the son of Henning Ehrenreich von Flanß (* July 14, 1666; † 1735) and his wife Elisabeth Gottliebe von Hake (1669–?). The Prussian Field Marshal Adam Christoph von Flanß is his uncle.

Life

He joined in 1725 as an ensign in the Dragoons. 1 (von Platen) one was in 1743 captain in Cuirassiers no. 4 (Gessler) and came after the end of the first two Silesian wars after Oberglogau in Upper Silesia in garrison. On December 21, 1750 he was promoted to major and on June 11, 1756 (date of patent) to lieutenant colonel. On May 6, 1757, he was wounded and captured in the Battle of Prague . Raised again in February 1758, he was appointed colonel on February 26, 1759 . The king awarded him the order Pour le Mérite for his exemplary behavior in the battle near Mühlberg and appointed him major general after the battle of Torgau in November 1760. The Dragoon Regiment No. 3 (Meinecke), to whose boss he was promoted on April 11, 1761, he almost never commanded during the war; Usually (as in the Bunzelwitz camp in 1761) he commanded 5 Bredow squadrons and 5 Vasold squadrons, and during the siege of Schweidnitz in 1762 a brigade formed from 15 squadrons and a garrison battalion.

He died of typhus in Gröbnig (also: Gröbning ) in Upper Silesia.

family

After the 2nd Silesian War he married Alexandrina Dorothea von Friedeborn (1720–1765). She was the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel and Commander von Küstrin, Alexander von Friedeborn , and his wife, a born von Müllenheim . The couple had the following children:

  • Alexander Ludwig Karl (* 1748; † 1767) died as an ensign in the Woldeck Cuirassier Regiment
  • Christoph Friedrich (* 1750; † 1775) died as an ensign in the Podjurski Hussar Regiment
  • Maria Charlotte Friederike (born May 3, 1752 - † June 25, 1812) ⚭ 1784 Johann Fabian Wilhelm von Schätzel (1739–1803), major general
  • Curd Philipp Leopold (* 1756; † 1757)
