Kurt Rocker

Kurt Rocker (born September 24, 1928 in Ilbesheim (Donnersbergkreis) ) is a German farmer, graduate engineer and politician of the CDU . From 1965 to 1991 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life

Rocker first attended elementary school in Katzenbach , later he moved to Lorraine , where he attended elementary school in Beux and high school in Metz . Back home he attended the agricultural schools in Kirchheimbolanden , Alsenz and Kaiserslautern . In 1951 he passed the assistant examination, a year later he graduated from the higher agricultural school in Bad Kreuznach as a state-certified farmer and engineer for agriculture. His first job was as an inspector at Südzucker AG in Worms. As early as 1953, he began training as a plant protection technician at the district plant protection office in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . After graduation, he was accepted into the state service and worked as a plant protection technician at the agricultural school in Alsenz, as a government employee and, after graduating from the technical college, as a qualified engineer for agriculture.

In 1956, Rocker was appointed district steward for bird protection, and he was also a member of the district nature conservation agency, of which he was president from 1973 to 1997. At the same time, he was president of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association within the German Forest Protection Association and, from 1977, deputy federal chairman, as well as chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Action Group for Nature and Environment and the Rhineland-Palatinate Citizens Service Association for television and radio. He was a member of the Parliamentary Conference for Environmental Issues and the State Youth Welfare Committee. In addition, he published works on the subjects of forests and nature conservation.

Rocker joined the CDU in 1954. As early as 1956 he was elected district chairman of the Junge Union , in 1961 he moved within the JU to the office of district chairman in the Palatinate , which he held until 1965. From 1960 he was also district chairman of the CDU. In the same year he was elected to the district council of the Rockenhausen district for the first time . In 1962 he rose there to chairman of the parliamentary group. He also held this office in the district assembly of the Donnersbergkreis , which was newly formed in 1969, until 1979, and was a member of the district assembly until 1984. He was also a member of the Rockenhausen Council . Within the CDU, he was a member of the Federal Agriculture Committee and the Federal Expert Committee on Energy and Environment.

On August 1, 1965, rocker moved up for Jakob Demmerle in the Mainz state parliament. He was re-elected six times in a row, so that he was a member of parliament until 1991. In the 7th electoral term in 1971 he took over the chairmanship of the Committee for Agriculture and Viticulture, which was expanded to include environmental protection in the following year. He also chaired the committee in the eighth electoral term. At the beginning of the 9th electoral term, which began in 1979, a separate committee for the environment was set up, Rocker took over its chairmanship in this and the following 10th electoral term. In the 10th and 11th electoral terms he was finally deputy chairman of the audit commission.
