Kurt Sigel
Kurt Sigel ( pseudonyms : René Legis , Hazie Schiefer , born August 3, 1931 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German writer and visual artist .
Life
Kurt Sigel attended secondary school up to secondary school leaving certificate . He then completed training as a typesetter . From 1952 to 1954 he worked in this profession, from 1954 to 1956 he worked as a typographer and graphic artist , and from 1956 to 1967 he was a freelance retoucher and graphic artist. After three years as a freelance writer, he headed an art gallery from 1971 . Since 1982 he has lived as a freelance writer and painter in Frankfurt am Main.
Kurt Sigel published in addition to his professional activities, from the fifties novels , short stories , poems and radio plays , in part, to high German , partly on Neuhessisch . As a visual artist he was active in the fields of painting , drawing and photography .
Kurt Sigel is a member of the PEN Center Germany , the Association of German Writers and the writers' association " Die Kogge ". In 1966 he received the sponsorship award for the Kogge Literature Prize, in 1983 and 1988 a working grant from the German Literature Fund and in 1991 the plaque of honor from the city of Frankfurt am Main .
Kurt Sigel Poetry Prize
In 2015 Kurt Sigel donated a poetry prize named after him, which is advertised by the PEN Center Germany. The prize is awarded every two years to a poet for poems of high aesthetic quality and is endowed with 4,000 euros.
