Kyle Bekker (born September 2, 1990 in Oakville , Canada ) is a Canadian soccer player serving as a midfielder . He is currently under contract with North Carolina FC .

Career

Club career

In his youth, Bekker played with the Oakville Bluestars and the Mississauga Dixie Dominators . In 2008, Bekker received an invitation to a trial training session at the Ajax Amsterdam Youth Academy , but was not signed by Ajax. Between 2009 and 2012 Bekker attended Boston College and played for its national team.

In the MLS SuperDraft 2013 Kyle Bekker was selected and signed by Toronto FC. In the first game of the 2013 season - on March 2, 2013 against the Vancouver Whitecaps - Bekker was on the starting line-up for Toronto, making his competitive debut in professional football. Over the entire season, Bekker was used nine times for Toronto, he was three times in the starting team. In addition, Bekker played seven games in the MLS Reserve League .

In the 2014 season, Bekker played an important role for Toronto FC; he was regularly on the starting grid and was used 20 times. A goal in the professional league he still did not succeed.

Before the start of the 2015 season, Bekker moved from Toronto FC to Dallas FC . There he did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player; he played eight times for Dallas, but only twice from the start. On July 16, 2015, Bekker left FC Dallas again and joined the Canadian franchise Montreal Impact . In return, Bakary Soumaré moved from Montreal to Dallas.

At Montreal Impact, Bekker played a total of three times during the 2015 season , including two from the start. He scored a goal against the San Jose Earthquakes . In the 2016 season he was used in 18 games. In the game against the Columbus Crew he scored another goal.

At the end of the 2016 season, his contract with Montreal Impact was not renewed. For the 2017 season, Bekker therefore moved to the San Francisco Deltas in the North American Soccer League , which will play in the NASL for the first time after being re-established in 2017. In his first game against Indy Eleven he scored the goal for his team to make it 1-1 - the first goal in the history of the club.

National team

Bekker has played in the Canadian youth national teams since he was 15 years old. He became a key player in Canada's U-23 selection and took part in the qualifiers for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

On March 26, 2013, Bekker played in the game against Danish selection for the first time for the Canadian senior team . Bekker was able to establish himself as a regular in the national team and took part in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup with her .
