The former Danish lightship Læsø Rende now serves the Heikendorfer Yacht Club HYC'86 as a floating clubhouse.
History of the lightship
The keel of the lightship was laid on June 14, 1886 at De forenede Oplagspladser og Værfter in Copenhagen , the launch was on January 4, 1887, and it was delivered on June 13, 1888.
The ship, which was built from oak as Fyrskib No XV (lightship number 15) had no drive of its own, it was towed by tugs to its respective anchorage. A total of 17 ships of this type were built in Copenhagen. There were 7–8 men on board as a crew. The ship was in use in various positions until 1971, between 1937 and the end of 1964, apart from a few visits to the shipyard, it was at Læsø Rende (N57 ° 17 '33 ", E10 ° 41' 20") in the Kattegat between Jutland and the Læsø island . The 26 meter high lighthouse Læsø Rende Fyr has stood here since 1965 .
History museum ship
After decommissioning, the Læsø Rende was launched in the Danish lightship magazine in the same year. In 1974 the ship was sold to the Danish city of Haderslev . There it was supposed to be used as a youth project, but the attempt to rebuild the ship with young people failed.
In 1986 the Heikendorfer Yacht Club bought it from the city of Haderslev for 90,000 DM and in November of the same year it was towed to the Bay of Kiel , where it has been in the Möltenort harbor ever since. By the spring of 1989, it was restored down to the last detail by ABM staff. The former generator room in the central nave was transformed into a maritime-style salon. All other rooms remained true to the original.
