Līga Dekmeijere (born May 21, 1983 in Riga , then Soviet Union ) is a former Latvian tennis player .
Career
Dekmeijere, who started tennis at the age of six, prefers hard courts. She is trained and looked after by her father Aivars. Her sister Laila is a professional hockey player and member of the Latvian national hockey team.
Līga Dekmeijere recently competed almost exclusively in doubles and has not been listed in the single world rankings for a long time. In 2008 she won her only WTA title to date in Viña del Mar alongside Alicja Rosolska . She was also able to book 19 double titles with changing partners on the ITF Women's Circuit .
Her best performance in a Grand Slam tournament was her entry into the second round of the double competition of the French Open in 2012. She and her double partner Tamarine Tanasugarn were stopped by the top Czech doubles Andrea Hlaváčková / Lucie Hradecká .
From 1998 Dekmeijere played for the Latvian Fed Cup team . She improved her double record in the Fed Cup with her last appearance in the 3-0 win over Denmark in April 2012 to 10: 7 wins, in the singles she has four wins and nine losses.
Since May 2015 she has not competed on the women's tour. It is no longer listed in the rankings.
