The WURZEN and OSCHATZ were tender locomotives of the Leipzig-Dresden Railway LDE for mixed service.

history

The two locomotives were delivered to the LDE by Borsig in Berlin in 1847 .

The locomotives were retired between 1870 and 1874.

technical features

The kettle was riveted from several shots. The standing boiler was equipped with a semicircular dome that protruded far beyond the long boiler, and a steam dome on the front section of the boiler also served as a steam collecting space. The two spring balance safety valves were located on the standing boiler.

In contrast to the English locomotives, the steam cylinders were arranged on the outside, which made an expensive and difficult to manufacture bolster axle unnecessary. The second coupled axle was driven. The steam engine was equipped with an internal Borsig double slide control, which was driven by two eccentrics.

The locomotives did not have their own braking equipment. The brakes were only applied using the tender's hand-operated spindle brake.

From 1850 the locomotives had the Kirchwegersche exhaust steam condensation system to preheat the feed water. The external feature for this is the second chimney on the tender. The exhaust steam was conducted from the valve body to the tender via a deep, approximately 100 mm thick connecting pipe.
