action

After the holidays, 16-year-old Lola, who is called Lol by her friends, starts again the exhausting time at the strict Paris school. At first, the joy outweighs the reunion with her clique. But this suddenly evaporated when her boyfriend confessed that he slept with another girl on vacation.

The film tells the sometimes funny, sometimes sad stories of the various teenagers who try to find their way around school, parents, friends, but also under the influence of music, parties, drugs and, last but not least, awakening sexual needs.

Awards

For her portrayal of Lola in LOL , Christa Theret was nominated for the French César film award in 2010 . Leading actress Sophie Marceau and director Lisa Azuelos received jury awards at the 2008 Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival .

criticism

“The film appears spontaneous and fresh, not least because it also casts the adult roles with unused faces. Cluelessness and double standards of adults is a preferred source of comedy. But actually the film doesn't want to laugh at, but with each character. "

“A cheerful summer comedy that precisely tracks down the needs of young people and, despite modern means of communication, portrays the generation conflicts as timeless. The involvement of Sophie Marceau builds an attractive bridge to cinematic models. "

“All in all, 'LOL' (...) is an enjoyable actor film, carried by a convincing squad of young actors and a gorgeous Sophie Marceau. The dialogues are lively, the plot is close to the zeitgeist and the humor is accurate, even if not always politically correct. "

Trivia

  • In the supermarket scene the song plays Reality by Richard Sanderson , who is also the theme song of the movie La Boum is. There Sophie Marceau played a similar role as the leading actress.
  • In a conversation between Anne and her mother, the latter asks: "Do you like your James Bond?" This is a reference to James Bond 007 - The World Is Not Enough , in which Sophie Marceau appeared as Bond girl 'Elektra King' in 1999 .
  • In 2012 an American remake was released under the same title . Lisa Azuelos also directed it, with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore playing the leading roles .
