Latur ( Marathi : लातूर , Lātūr ) is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra with around 380,000 inhabitants (2011 census).

It is the administrative seat of the Latur District . The fast growing city lies at an altitude of about 636 meters and is an economic center of the region.

On September 30, 1993, there were in the region an earthquake of intensity 6.2 M _w , in which 9,751 people died.
