La Antena is a 2007 dystopian science fiction film directed by the Argentine director Esteban Sapir . In the “city without voices” (original: “Ciudad sin voz”) the residents have lost their ability to speak. A dictatorial ruler named "Señor TV" controls the population through television. The singer “La Voz” appears in his station's program and still has one voice. The singer's son, whom she hides from the outside world and who has no eyes, can also speak. Ana, the daughter of a television technician, befriends the boy.
Señor TV has La Voz kidnapped. The television technician learns of the plan and sets off with his family and La Voz's son to a disused broadcasting station to broadcast a signal that is supposed to thwart Señor TV's plans. La Voz's voice goes on air as planned; the population falls into a deep sleep, and by means of an apparatus operated by a child, the people's words, their last means of communication, are stolen.
The TV technician manages to overpower the police chief and La Voz's son's voice goes on the air. The child who operated the word-robbing machine dies, the power of Señor TV is broken. The residents have regained their words and their voices.

The film opened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2007. The German premiere took place in the same year at the Fantasy Film Festival . In Germany the film did not start regularly in cinemas, but was released on DVD . It was first broadcast on German television on October 1, 2011.
analysis
La Antena was shot entirely in black and white. The soundtrack consists almost exclusively of music, like a silent film, only La Voz and her son have a few lines of spoken dialogue. In contrast to what is usual in silent films, the dialogues of the other protagonists are not shown in subtitles , but rather in the current picture. Instead of modern CGI technology, Sapir uses classic trick techniques such as miniature sets and stop motion .
