history
La Ferté-Villeneuil was owned by the Counts of Blois in the 12th century . At that time the place had a city wall (which was demolished in the 18th century), two churches (one of which, Saint-Pierre, was destroyed in the Hundred Years War ) and a castle, which was especially built by Theobald VI. used by Blois as a residence (and who died here), and a hospital (Hôtel-Dieu).
