The Lady C-Class is a coaster class of the Spliethoff belonging group shipping company Wijnne Barends in Delfzijl . The class ships were designed by Conoship International in Groningen and Niestern Sander in Delfzijl and built at the Niestern Sander shipyard. The ship type is referred to by the shipyard as "HCC 5000" ( H igh C UBIC C ontainer 5000). A total of four ships were built.

description

The drive of the vessels is carried out by a four-stroke - six-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer Caterpillar (type MaK 6M32) with 2,880  kW power . The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . The ships are equipped with an electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 300 kW. Three Scania diesel generators (type: DS 9) with an output of 202 kW are available for power generation. Another Scania diesel generator (type: DS 9) with an output of 130 kW was installed for port and emergency operations.

The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. It offers space for ten crew members , who are accommodated in individual cabins. There are two largely box-shaped cargo holds in front of the deckhouse . They are each 32.20 meters long, 13.20 meters wide and 9.20 meters high. Room 1 is 8.75 meters wide in the front area and room 2 in the rear area. The capacity of the rooms is 7,505 m³. They are each closed with five pontoon hatch covers that can be loaded with 2 t / m².

The ships are equipped with an electrically operated gantry crane that can be moved over the entire length of the hatches. The crane can lift 35 t and is also used to open and close the cargo holds.

The ships are prepared for the transport of containers . The room height enables three layers of high-cube containers to be transported on top of each other. The container capacity is 283  TEU . 142 TEU, 71 TEU each in room 1 and room 2, find space below deck. There is space for 151 TEU on deck. 66 TEU of this can be loaded onto hatch 1 and 75 TEU onto hatch 2. With homogeneous loading with 14 t heavy containers, the capacity is 235 TEU. The weight of a stack of containers on deck must not exceed 30 t for 20-foot containers and 40 t for 40-foot containers.

The ships are equipped with a heat recovery system that uses the waste heat from the engines to heat the living and lounges.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1A).
