Laenmanen (Laen Manen) is a district ( Kecamatan ) of the Indonesian administrative district ( Indonesian Kabupaten ) Malaka ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ) on the island of Timor . The administrative headquarters are in Eokpuran in the administrative "village" Kapitanmeo .

Laenmanen is located in the north of the Malaka administrative district in western central Timor. To the south are the districts Sasita Mean and Botin Leobele and to the east the district of East Malaka (Malaka Timur) . In the west, Laenmanen borders on the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) of North Central Timor (Timor Tengah Utara) and in the northeast on the administrative district of Belu . Laenmanen has an area of ​​94.02 km².

The district is divided into nine villages ( Indonesian Desa ): Tniumanu occupies the entire west of Io Kufeu and has an area of ​​13.18 km². In the north are the Desas Meotroy (7.31 km²) and Tesa (7.38 km²) and in the south the Desas Bisesmus (12.80 km²), Uabau (12.80 km²), Bonibas (5.37 km²) and Naukekusa (15.00 km²). The center is formed by the Desas Oenaek (12.80 km²) and Kapitanmeo (Kapitan Meo, 7.38 km²). The main towns of the villages are all below 500  m .

826 hectares of the district are forested. Of this, 290 hectares are under state conservation and 117 hectares are protected by traditional rules [[( Adat )]].

In 2015 there were 86 rainy days with a total of 1,040 mm of precipitation. The temperature fluctuates between 24 and 34 ° C.

Residents

In 2016, 11,490 people (5,742 men and 5,748 women) lived in 3,308 households in the district. 1,449 residents were 0 to 4 years old, 232 were 75 years or older. Most of the people live in Desa Tesa (1,833 inhabitants). 9,652 people profess the Catholic faith, 1,832 are Protestants and six are Muslims. In the district there are two Catholic churches in Bonibais and Meotroy and three Protestant churches in Bonibais, Naukekusa and Tesa.

Public facilities and infrastructure

There are 16 elementary schools, three junior high schools, and one senior high school in the district. 35 health facilities are available for medical care.

540 households are connected to the public power grid.

economy

Rice is grown on 266 hectares, corn is planted on 1,468 hectares and cassava grows on 146 hectares. Other crops are peanuts (2 hectares), green beans (80 hectares) and sweet potatoes (2 hectares). In 2015, the district kept 8,809 cattle, 112 water buffalo, 38 horses, 7,926 pigs and 5,848 goats as farm animals. There are also 32,875 chickens and 245 ducks. Sheep are missing.

203 manufacturing and processing companies operate in Laenmanen, where 376 people work. There are also 82 dealers.
