Sasita Mean (also Sasitamean ) is a district ( Kecamatan ) of the Indonesian administrative district ( Indonesian Kabupaten ) Malaka (province of East Nusa Tenggara ) on the island of Timor . The administrative headquarters are in Kaputu .

Sasita Mean is located in the west of the Malaka administrative district in western central Timor. It borders the Laenmanen district in the north, the Botin Leobele district in the east, central Malaka in the south and the Io Kufeu district in the west . To the northwest is the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) of North Central Timor (Timor Tengah Utara) . Sasita Mean has an area of ​​65.48 km².

The district is divided into nine villages ( Desa in Indonesian ): Naisau forms the north-west of the district with 14.27 km². To the south-east of this is As Manulea with 7.63 km². In the south there are Manumutin Silole with 5.36 km², Faturain with 6.89 km² and Builaran with 4.94 km². The center consists of Manulea with 8.81 km², Umatnana with 5.27 km², Beaneno with 5.42 km² and Naibone with 6.89 km².

In 2015 there were 55 rainy days with a total of 896.5 mm of precipitation. The temperature fluctuates between 24 and 35 ° C.

The main towns of the villages are all above 500  m . 3,525 hectares of the district consists of forests. 2,150 of them are protective forest, 1,375 hectares are under special protection according to old belief.

Residents

In 2016, 8,569 people (4,241 men and 4,328 women) lived in 2,330 households in the district. 1,072 residents were 0 to 4 years old, 210 were 75 years or older. In 2011 the population was 8,017. Most of the people live in Manulea (2,472 inhabitants).

8,408 people profess the Catholic faith, 138 are Protestants and 23 are Muslim. There are nine Catholic churches in the district.

There are twelve elementary schools, two junior high schools, and two senior high schools in the district. 33 health facilities are available for medical care.

economy

The main agricultural product is corn. It is planted on 1,190 hectares. Manioc is of greater importance with 301 hectares of cultivation area. Other agricultural products include green beans (29 hectares), peanuts (43 hectares), sweet potatoes (15 hectares), pecans , coconuts and cashews. Rice is not grown. In 2015, the district kept 3,465 cattle, four buffaloes, ten horses, 5,007 pigs, 289 goats, 14,026 chickens and 152 ducks as farm animals.

79 manufacturing and processing companies are active in Laenmanen.
