Kobalima Timur ( Koba : basket ; lima: five; Timur: east ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Malaka (province of East Nusa Tenggara ). Until December 14, 2012, Kobalima Timur was still part of the Belu administrative district .

geography

Kobalima Timur is located in the south of the island of Timor , on the coast of the Timor Sea . In the east is the municipality of Cova Lima, which belongs to the state of East Timor, with the administrative offices of Fatumean and Tilomar , to the north is the district of West Tasifeto (administrative district of Belu) and to the west of the district of Kobalima (administrative district of Malaka), to which the area of ​​East Kobalima formerly belonged. The western border is formed by the Mota Babulu .

Kobalima Timur is divided into four Desa (villages): South Alas ( Alas Selatan ) (2361 inhabitants 2010), Kotabiru (1049), Alas (1590) and North Alas ( Alas Utara ) (1010).

The administrative seat of the district is Alas.

Residents

The majority of the 6010 inhabitants (2010) belong to the ethnic groups of the Tetum and Bunak , who otherwise live in the neighboring East Timor. The Bunak live in Alas and Alas Selatan.
