East Malaka ( Indonesian Malaka Timur ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Malaka ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ). Until December 14, 2012, East Malaka was still part of Belu Governorate .

geography

East Malaka is located in the north of the Malaka administrative district, on the island of Timor . To the west is the Laenmanen district , to the south Botin Leobele and to the east Kobalima . In the north, East Malaka borders the Belu administrative district with its Rai Manuk district .

East Malaka is divided into Desa (villages) Numponi (2,416 inhabitants 2010), Sanleo (1,817), Dirma (1,167), Kusa (1,478), Wemeda (1,452) and Raiulun (812).

The administrative seat is Boas .

Residents

In 2010, 9,142 people lived in West Tasifeto. The majority of them belong to the Tetum ethnic group and the majority are of the Catholic faith . There are also Bunak settlements , such as Haroe in Desa Sanleo. Most of the Bunak are descendants of refugees who left Maucatar in East Timor when it was given to the Portuguese by the Dutch in 1916 .
