Kobalima ( Koba : basket ; lima: five) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Malaka (province of East Nusa Tenggara ). Until December 14, 2012, Kobalima was still part of the Belu administrative district .

geography

Kobalima is located on the south coast of the island of Timor on the Timor Sea . To the west are the Kecamatans Ostmalaka ( Malaka Timur ), Sasita Mean and Malaka Tengah , which also belong to Malaka , and the Kecamatans Tasifeto Barat and Rai Manuk, which belong to Belu . To the east of the earlier Kobalima belonging Kecamtan is Ostkobalima ( Kobalima Timur ). The eastern border is formed by the Mota Babulu .

Kobalima divided into eight Desa (villages) to: Westlakekun (2,499 inhabitants in 2010), Lakekun (2349), Nordlakekun (1670), Litamali (3773), Sisi (1260), Rainawe (3040), Südbabulu (1145) and Babulu ( 1,079).

The administrative seat is in Raihenek .

Residents

The majority of the 16,815 inhabitants (2010) belong to the ethnic groups of the Tetum and Bunak , who otherwise live in the neighboring East Timor.
