Botin Leobele is a district ( Kecamatan ) of the Indonesian administrative district ( Indonesian Kabupaten ) Malaka ( East Nusa Tenggara Province ) on the island of Timor . The administrative headquarters are in Takari .

geography

Botin Leobele is located in the center of the Malaka administrative district in western central Timor. In the west is the Sasita Mean district , in the south Central Malaka , in the east Kobalima and in the north East Malaka and Laenmanen . The area is hilly and two of the district's villages are on the Mota Baen River . Botin Leobele has an area of ​​39.03 km².

The district is divided into 5 villages ( Indonesian Desa ): With 19.33 km² in the east, the village of Kereana takes up almost half of the area of ​​the district. In the center is the village of Takari and the west is formed by Babotin , Babotin Maemina and South Babotin (Babotin Selatan) .

In the region, rainy and dry seasons alternate. Since there is no connecting bridge over the Mota Baen, all villages except Kereana are cut off from the outside world after heavy rains.

Residents

In 2015, 4,956 people (2,396 men and 2,560 women) lived in 1,451 households in Botin Leobele. The population density is 127 inhabitants per square kilometer. The majority of the inhabitants are members of the Bunak and Tetum . The majority of these two ethnic groups live in the state of East Timor . In 2014 the number of inhabitants was 4,907. The largest village is Kereana with 1929 inhabitants.

As in the rest of the eastern part of Indonesian West Timor and East Timor , the Catholics in Botin Leobele form the clear majority of the population. 4,857 residents profess the Catholic faith. The Protestantism that dominates in the far west is much weaker. He only bites 99 followers in the district. Muslims, Buddhists, Hinduists or other religious followers were not registered here at all in 2015.

Education and health

850 children go to primary school in Botin Leobele (as of 2015), taught by 68 teachers. 150 students go to junior high school and are supervised by 11 teachers. There is no senior high school in the district, so students have to go to the neighboring districts of Sasita Mean or Central Malaka for further training.

There are 21 medical facilities of varying quality in Botin Leobele. 16 midwives and 14 paramedics are on duty here. The district officials see the participation of the population in the family planning program for birth control as a measure of medical care. However, the number of participants fell from 681 in 2014 to 478 in 2015.
