The Lafranconi Bridge ( Slovak Most Lafranconi ) is the longest bridge in Bratislava at 764 meters . After an architectural competition in 1976, the aesthetic purity of the bridge was built between 1985 and 1991 and opened in 1992. It is the first Slovakian bridge over the Danube to have a concrete supporting structure . It is named after the Italian architect Enea Grazioso Lanfranconi (1850–1895), who mapped the course of the Danube in Bratislava and also devoted himself to flood protection. It was originally supposed to be named Most Mládeže (Bridge of Youth).

Its main purpose is motorized road traffic on the D2 motorway ( Europastraße 65 ); it also has a sidewalk, a bike lane and various water and gas pipes inside. The sidewalk is also used by the E8 European long-distance path . Originally the lane consisted of two lanes and one hard shoulder in each direction, with a capacity of 41,000 vehicles per day and a total width of 30 meters. In August 2013 the hard shoulder towards Hungary was rededicated as a continuous lane, in August 2020 this also happened in the direction of the Czech Republic. In the 2015 traffic census, 82,646 vehicles rolled through the bridge in 24 hours.

The bridge is located immediately east of the Austrian-Slovak state border . On the right bank in Petržalka notice follows the internationally important important motorway junction Petržalka-Pecna with the D1 motorway ( European route E75 ) (towards Central Slovakia and Poland) and later in the D4 or Austrian Northeast motorway at A6 (towards Vienna) while the D2 itself continues to Hungary.
