Lains is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Montlainsia with 80 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

The Commune déléguée Lains covers an area of 9.81 km² and borders in the north on Montrevel , in the northeast on La Boissière , in the east on Dramelay and Dessia , in the southeast on Valfin-sur-Valouse and Charnod , in the south on Villeneuve-lès- Charnod , in the south-west with Montagna-le-Templier and in the west with Saint-Julien .
history
1790–94 Lains took over the previous municipality of Écreux.
On January 1, 2017, the municipality of Lains merged with Dessia and Montagna-le-Templier to form the new municipality of Montlainsia. It belonged to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Saint-Amour .
