Saint-Julien is a town and commune Déléguée in the French municipality of Val Suran with 432 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the south of the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

On January 1, 2017, the municipality of Saint-Julien merged with Louvenne , Bourcia and Villechantria to form the new municipality of Val Suran. It belonged to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Saint-Amour .

geography

Saint-Julien is located in the Petit Montagne area , around 35 kilometers south of Lons-le-Saunier and just as far north of Bourg-en-Bresse .

Saint-Julien lies on the left bank of the Suran River , into which the Ponson brook flows from the left and the Toisin a little further downstream from the right .

The neighboring communities were Louvenne in the north, Montrevel in the northeast, Lains in the east, Montagna-le-Templier in the southeast, Villechantria in the south, Florentia in the west and Andelot-Morval in the northeast.
