Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is hairy with white wool and the tips are colored carmine red. The yellowish-green young leaves are only hairy on the top of the leaf.
  • The medium-sized leaves are not lobed or sometimes three-lobed. The stem bay is open V -shaped. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are large compared to the grape varieties. In autumn the foliage turns yellow and shows red-colored areas.
  • The cylindrical grape is medium-sized, elongated and moderately dense. The round berries are medium-sized and blue-black in color. The berry peel is crisp and firm.

The grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late in international comparison. The yields of the variety are consistently high due to the low susceptibility to classic vine diseases and explain the great local importance.
