life and career

College soccer

Lance Hill was born on February 17, 1972; Little is known about his early footballing career. In 1990, the then 18-year-old moved from high school to Creighton University in Omaha in the US state of Nebraska , where he also worked for the men's soccer team of the Creighton Bluejays , the university's own sports department, parallel to his business studies . During his time at the university he was noticed as an offensively dangerous player and had some successes with the team as well as individually in the course of his career there. In his five years with the Creighton Bluejays Hill came to 72 wins, 19 losses and seven draws; only two games of the Missouri Valley Conference were lost. He also set a new NCAA record for leading his team as team captain for all those five years . As such, he led his team in three NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournaments ( 1992 , 1993 and 1994 ). After a few years without his own football team, Hill was one of the pioneers in the Creighton's 1990 resurrected football program. After the resumption of game operations in Tranquility Park in western Omaha in 1990, the team took part in the game operations of the new MVC league from the following year. As one of the best teams in the conference made it the Creighton University but not over the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Tournament in 1991 for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 1991 to qualify. This changed, however, in the following year when the team became conference champion and thus qualified for the first time in the history of the football program at Creighton for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. Lance Hill was elected to the NSCAA All Region First Team in 1991 for his achievements , and he was also on the MVC All Conference First Team that year .

At the 1992 tournament , the team entered the second round, but lost to Southern Methodist University just 0: 1. Another year later, after a final victory in the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Tournament in 1993 over the University of Tulsa , the Bluejays once again made it into the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. Here, the team already got in the first round by Lou Sagastume trained Air Force Falcons of the United States Air Force Academy and defeated by this team until the extension with 1: 2. At the end of this game year Hill had made it to elections for the MVC All Conference First Team , as well as the NSCAA All Region Second Team . Furthermore, he had four goals in the game against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on September 19, 1993 , which means that today (as of 2020) he still leads this statistic in the men's soccer team of the Creighton Bluejays together with a number of other players . In the statistics with the most scorer points, he ranks second with a number of other players (as of 2020). Nationwide, the Bluejays took first place in the ranking this year.

In his fifth game year with the Bluejays, the squad coached by Bob Warming once again dominated the MVC and, after a 1-0 final win over the Drake Bulldogs of Drake University in the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Tournament in 1994, made it into the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournaments 1994 . There the team first won the game against Saint Louis Billikens from Saint Louis University with 2-1, but then dropped out in the second round just 0-1 against the Indiana Hoosiers from Indiana University Bloomington . That year Hill also scored one of the fastest goals for Creighton University when he added the 1-0 opening goal for his team after just 30 seconds in the game against Missouri State University on November 5, 1994 . This means that he still ranks third at Creighton today (as of 2020). At the end of the year he received an Honorable Mention from the MVC for his services , was elected to the Conference All Tournament Team by the MVC and was an NSCAA All-Region-Player ( All-Midwest-First-Team ). In the end, Hill had 21 goals and 20 assists in all his appearances and graduated from Creighton with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance .

Short professional career and start into professional life

After completing his college career, he moved to the New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers , a franchise with gaming operations in the United States Interregional Soccer League , USISL for short. There he appeared under Mike Jeffries as a regular on the offensive and at the end of the professional league, which was still third at the time, he finished fifth with the team in the South Central District in the regular season. Thus, the team did not make it into the play-offs at the end of the season and could not qualify for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup this year either. Although the team's less than satisfactory performance Hill was named USISL South Central District Rookie of the Year at the end of the game year and was on the All-Star First Team . In February 1996 he was drafted to the Colorado Rapids as a total of 102nd pick in the eleventh round of the MLS Inaugural Player Drafts 1996 , which was the first time players were distributed to the ten teams in Major League Soccer , which started playing that year . However, after he was not offered a contract by the franchise, he left it immediately and started his professional life.

From February 1997 to October 1999 he worked as a Client Representative at IBM , where he subsequently rose to Senior Client Executive , a position he held until December 2005. He then worked from January 2006 to December 2009 at IBM as a Sales Specialist - Asset Recovery Solutions . He had already started working at Microsoft a year earlier , where he initially worked as a Solution Sales Professional - Biz Productivity until June 2010 and already in July 2009 as a Corporate Territory Manager , which he still carries out today (as of 2020), recorded. In parallel, Hill was from January 2016 to June 2017 Channel Executive , after July 2017 to June 2018 Partner Development Manager and since July 2018 Director in the area of Enterprise Services Solutions . In addition to his professional career, he also appeared for a few years as a football player on an amateur or semi-professional level. So he took among others in 2004 with the Legends FC from the North Texas Premier Soccer Association at the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup 2004 in part and was eliminated in this with his team in the first round against the coming from the same region DFW Tornados from.

Even after leaving Creighton University, he continued to work for them. He was a member of the Creighton National Alumni Board from September 2001 to May 2004 , and was President of the Dallas Creighton Alumni Association during the same period . He still appears today as a supporter and member of these organizations. He also took part in the Peanut Gallery , an organization that advocates a healthy lifestyle for children, and participated in various fundraising campaigns for his alma mater . On April 4, 2007 he was inducted into the Creighton Athletic Hall of Fame as the fifth member of the Creighton football program.
