The State Garden Show Lahr / Black Forest 2018 took place from April 12 to October 14, 2018 in Lahr / Black Forest in the Ortenau district in Baden-Württemberg . Under the motto “Grows - lives - moves” everything revolved around flowers.

history

Idea and planning

On May 25 and 26, 2011, the jury had the task of selecting and presenting the best works from the 45 submitted plans. The 15-member jury consisted of local councilors , landscape architects , town planners , the Lord Mayor of Lahr , Wolfgang G. Müller and Mayor of Lahr, as well as a representative from the state of Baden-Württemberg . The plans were presented to the public with an exhibition from May 31 to June 9, 2011. After a marketing and design competition, a visual appearance of the state garden show was adopted, because the goal should be a garden show suitable for children and young people. From June 2013, the foundation stone of the garden show was laid on the empty area next to the Lahr buildings. On July 3, 2013 the information and decision day for the planned garden show took place. In May 2014, the first ideas for the state horticultural show were collected in workshops.

Construction work on the site began in 2015.

Exhibition area

The area with almost 38 hectares is divided into an allotment park, a community park and a lake park.
