history

On March 19, 2015, the majority of the Bad Iburg City Council (in the 2011 city council election, the CDU received 50.36 percent of the vote) against financial support for the garden show. In a referendum on December 6, 2015, however, the citizens of Bad Iburg decided in favor of the orientation. In January 2016, the office of the implementing company started work on the project. On July 4, 2016, it was clear that the landscape architecture office A 24 Landschaft would plan the garden show projects. This office had already planned the state garden shows in Rosenheim (2010), Schwäbisch Gmünd (2014), Landau in der Pfalz (2015) and Eutin (2016). On April 18, 2018, all work was completed in time for the opening of the garden show.

In the 2016 city council election, the Bad Iburger CDU received only 17.31 percent of the vote. The political journal "Rundblick" rated this as a reaction to the rejection of the garden show plans.
