The Lower Saxony State Horticultural Show is an exhibition on horticulture that takes place in Lower Saxony . A state horticultural show is the smaller equivalent of the federal horticultural show at the state level.
history
The Lower Saxony state exhibitions " Nature in Urban Development " ("LNS") can be seen as the predecessors of today's state horticultural shows. They took place in Munster in 1988 , in Bremervörde in 1991 and in Duderstadt in 1994 . The state exhibitions were sometimes referred to colloquially as state garden shows, but the concept differed from that of a classic garden show. The first regular Lower Saxony State Garden Show finally took place in 2002 in Bad Zwischenahn . Initially, a show was held in Lower Saxony every two years, and since 2006 every four years.

The Lower Saxony garden shows serve urban , social, ecological and economic purposes in the cities and communities involved. They promote tourism , improve the quality of life , improve the image , promote investment and create new jobs.
financing
The city or municipality responsible is responsible for financing the implementation of a state horticultural show. If the event is successful, the costs of the implementation will be fully refinanced through visitor entrance fees, license fees and sponsors . The investment costs in the infrastructure and the green area are also incumbent on the implementing city or municipality, but they can be subsidized through various funding pots or funding programs of the state of Lower Saxony. Nevertheless, the financial risk of a state garden show should not be underestimated.
canditature
The state horticultural show is usually intended for cities or municipalities with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Consumer Protection and Regional Development in Hanover accepts applications . After the financial feasibility has been checked, the respective concept is submitted to an evaluation committee made up of representatives from the ministries, horticultural professional associations, landscape architects and top municipal organizations. The final decision on the award is made by the Lower Saxony state government after a corresponding proposal by the evaluation committee.

The respective city or municipality is responsible for the Lower Saxony State Horticultural Show.
organizer
The organizers of the Lower Saxony State Horticultural Show are the respective city or municipality and the Fördergesellschaft Landesgartenschauen Niedersachsen mbH (FLN) together. The Fördergesellschaft Landesgartenschauen Niedersachsen mbH advises the respective city or municipality from the application phase through the construction and event phase.
Duration
The state horticultural show usually lasts six months as a major event.
