history

On January 1, 2011, the General Public District Hospital Hall  (BKH) and the Psychiatric Hospital  (PKH) were merged to form the State Hospital Hall . The General Public Hospital 15 kilometers from Innsbruck was a standard hospital with 276 inpatient beds, where around 23,000 patients were treated per year. It goes back to the Spital zum Heiligen Geist , founded in 1342 on Untere Stadtplatz, and was located at the Damenstift from 1845. In 1911 the city bought the Knoll property and rebuilt the hospital.

The psychiatric hospital was in Thurnfeldgasse in 1830 as the k. k. Hall in Tirol lunatic asylum was established and is now a department.

The hospital of the Tiroler Landeskrankenanstalten (Tirol Kliniken GmbH) is classified as an academic teaching hospital , whereby the private university for health sciences, medical informatics and technology was located in Hall in 2004 , where Tirol Kliniken GmbH is also the majority owner. For this purpose, the Eduard Wallnöfer Center has been built adjacent to the BKH and PKH since 2004 . A construction project to modernize the treatment rooms has been underway since 2010 under the administrative director Reinhard Wolf according to the plans of the architect Johann G. Waldhart. Around 93,000 outpatients are cared for with 147,000 visits, it has over 500 beds and around 1150 employees. The first party took place in the Hall hospital on November 27, 2018, and construction is expected to be completed in 2020.

Burial ground

In the course of preparations for construction work, a grave field with the remains of around 220 people was discovered on a meadow , who were probably buried between 1942 and 1945. In the course of the merger of the two hospitals to form the State Hospital Hall at the beginning of 2011, the matter was made public. Construction has currently stopped, and coroners are currently investigating the remains. The Innsbruck historian Horst Schreiber reports that the circumstances still have to be dealt with historically. During the Nazi era, the hospital was an intermediate facility in the euthanasia program for the Tyrol-Vorarlberg area before the victims were brought to Linz and destroyed in the Hartheim Nazi killing facility .
