course

The river rises in the hills east of Piloni in the Colline Metallifere in the municipality of Roccastrada as Fosso Lanzo and becomes the Torrente Lanzo between Poggio al Tesoro (411 m) and Poggio alla Rigia (430 m). He spends 6 km in the municipality of Roccastrada. From here the Torrente flows to the south-east and reaches the municipality of Civitella Paganico , where it spends about 24 km. It passes under Strada Statale 223 di Paganico and then passes the Abbazia di San Lorenzo al Lanzo abbey (called Badia Ardenghesca), which is in the local area of Civitella Marittima . From here the Torrente flows south and passes the mills Mulino di Sopra and Mulino di Sotto . Continuing south, it flows under the Siena-Grosseto railway line and then the SP 64 provincial road (called Cipressino), which connects Paganico with the communities around Mount Amiata . It then flows 200 m east of Paganico and a short time later flows into the Ombrone as a right tributary .
