Larret "Larry" Crockett (born October 23, 1926 in Cambridge City , Indiana , † March 20, 1955 in Langhorne , Pennsylvania ) was an American automobile racing driver .
Career
Larry Crockett started the AAA National Series in 10 races in 1954 . His best result was fourth place in the Pikes Peak hill climb . In his only start at the Indianapolis 500 , he finished ninth on a Kurtis-Kraft -3000- Offenhauser and won the title " Rookie of the Year ". Since the race was part of the Formula 1 World Championship between 1950 and 1960 , its statistics also include a Grand Prix start. In 1955, Crockett had a fatal accident in a sprint car race in Langhorne.
