Laurenz Matthias Vincenz

Laurenz Matthias Vincenz (born March 26, 1874 in Andest , Graubünden , Switzerland ; † July 29, 1941 in Chur ) was bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Chur .

Laurenz Matthias Vincenz entered the seminary in Chur after attending the collegiate schools in the Disentis and Einsiedeln monasteries . He was ordained a priest in the diocese of Chur on July 16, 1899 and studied and obtained his doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University .

He was vicar in Zurich-Oerlikon (1901–1904) and at St. Peter and Paul in Zurich (1904–1908). In 1908 he became episcopal chancellor in Chur. Two years after being appointed non-resident canon in 1915, he became vicar general in the diocese of Chur. In 1928 he became dean of the cathedral .

Pope Pius XI appointed him titular bishop of Paphus in 1932 and appointed him coadjutor in the diocese of Chur. After the death of Georg Schmid von Grüneck on May 6, 1932, he was appointed Bishop of Chur. He received his episcopal consecration on May 22, 1932, the Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland, Archbishop Pietro di Maria . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sitten , Viktor Bieler , and the Bishop of St. Gallen , Alois Scheiwiler .

Laurenz Matthias Vincenz died at the age of 67 as a bishop.
