Lawr Kuzmich Plakhov ( Russian Лавр Кузьмич Плахов , scientific. Transliteration Lavr Kuz'mič Plachov * 1810 in the Russian Empire ; † February 8 . Jul / 20th February  1881 greg. In St. Petersburg , Russian Empire) was a Russian genre painter , lithographer and photographer .

Life

From 1829 Plachow was taught by Alexei Gawrilowitsch Wenezianow , whose painting school he is assigned. From 1832 to 1836 he studied lithography under Karl (Joachim) Petrowitsch Beggrow (1799–1875) and painting under Maxim Nikiforowitsch Vorobjow at the Imperial Art Academy in Saint Petersburg. Then he went to the studio of Eduard Pistorius in Berlin . Shortly afterwards he moved to Düsseldorf and worked for Adolph Schroedter between 1836 and 1842 . In 1842 he returned to Russia, where he painted the life of the simple rural people in the mid-1840s. At the end of the 1840s he turned to photography . In 1851 he published twenty daguerreotypes showing the knight Svjatogor . Plachov traveled a lot in Russia; in particular he lived in Vilna , Minsk and Kharkiv . He died impoverished in Saint Petersburg in 1881.
