The Lease Islands [ le.a.se ] ( Indonesian Kabupaten Lease ), formerly called Uliasers , are an Indonesian group of islands in the Banda Sea .
They are located in the center of the Moluccas , 6 km south of Seram Island and 6 km east of Ambon Island in the Indonesian province of Maluku . About 170 km to the southeast are the Banda Islands .
The Lease Islands include the three inhabited islands of Haruku , Saparua and Nusa Laut as well as the uninhabited island of Molana . In 2010 the islands had a total of 62,004 inhabitants.
