The Indonesian Sermata Islands ( Indonesian Kepulauan Sermata ) belong to the Southern Moluccas .

geography

The largest island in the group is Sermata . To the west of it are Kalapa , Kepuri , Tiara , Liakra , Luang , Matumara , Meatij Miarang , Metutun , Lailawan , Meaterialam and Amortuan . Together they form the sub-district ( Kecamatan ) Mdona Hiera ( Mdona Hyera ), which belongs to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) of the southwestern Moluccas ( Maluku Province ). The main town of the sub-district is Lelang on Sermata.

To the west of the Sermata Islands are the Leti Islands , to the east the Babar Islands . Together they are part of the outer ribbon arc , which Timor further to the west also belongs to. The Timor Sea is to the south and the Banda Sea to the north .
