Lee Min-young ( Korean 이민영 ; born April 15, 1991 ) is a South Korean football coach who has been involved in the development of women's football in East Timor, Southeast Asia, since January 2018 .

Career

Lee is from Daegu . In 2000, she began playing soccer at Sang-In Elementary School (Daegu), and later played on the school teams at Sang-Won Middle School (Daegu), Hyundai Information Science High School ( Ulsan ) and Yeungjin University (Daegu ). In addition, the central defender and center forward was appointed to the national teams of the U-15 and U-18 age groups. After twelve active years with numerous injuries, Lee finally ended her career as a player and concentrated on her coaching career from then on. The South Korean received her coaching licenses from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in categories C and B in May 2012 and May 2015. Her first coaching positions then followed at the Sang-in Elementary School (July 2012 to January 2014) and at the Yul- myun Middle School ( Incheon , February 2014 to August 2016). In addition, Lee studied at Gachon University in Seongnam and at Suwon University in Suwon , from which she graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Physical Education. The national education ministry then certified the South Korean as a sports teacher .

Between March and December 2017, Lee worked as an assistant trainer at Dongsan Information Industry High School ( Seoul ). As part of the promotion of sports by the Korea Football Association (KFA) was in October and November 2017 her compatriot Shin-hwan Kim - on whose life story the film drama A Barefoot Dream is based - in his role as coach of the U-19 National Team of East Timor to the side posed. Since January 2018, Lee has been working full-time as the KFA's “Overseas Dispatched Football Coach” in East Timor , taking on tasks as a scout , observer of the national women's championship and national coach of the women's selection of all ages. In August 2019, the South Korean, who, after completing a six-month course in April 2019, also acquired the continental association's highest coaching license (A license), signed a new two-year contract.

At the end of June 2018, Lee was the head coach of the East Timorese women's national team for the first time at the Southeast Asian Championship in Palembang, Indonesia . In the course of the tournament, the team conceded a total of four defeats without scoring their own against Cambodia (0:12), Thailand (0: 8), Australia U-20s (0: 9) and Malaysia (0: 4). At the Southeast Asian Cup 2019, on the other hand, the national team coached by the South Korean achieved the greatest success in the still young history of East Timorese women's football. On 15 August 2019, the team defeated by two goals from Luselia Fernandes and Dolores Costa , the national team of Singapore surprisingly with 2: 1. After defeats against the Philippines (0: 7), Thailand (0: 9) and Malaysia (0: 5), they finished seventh among nine participating nations at the end of the tournament. In November 2019, on paper, Lee was also the head coach of the men's U-19 national team, which in qualifying for the 2020 Junior Asian Cup, the teams from Indonesia (1: 3), North Korea (0: 4) and Hong Kong (1: 2) was defeated. In fact, however, during the East Timorese tournament, Eduardo Pereira - as the holder of a C coaching license not formally entitled to do so - took over this post, due to government regulations to strengthen local coaches, the head coach of the AS Ponta Leste club had been promoted behind the scenes. On behalf of the Federação Futebol Timor-Leste (FFTL), Lee also looked after the U-12s of the boys (August 2018) and the U-15s of the girls during their first international appearance (May 2019), as well as the female U-18s as a coaching assistant (February 2020).
