Lee Yu-won (born September 22, 1984 in Seoul ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2017 .

Career

Lee Yu-won began his career as a hockey player on the Kyung Gi High School team . From 2003 to 2006 he played for the team at Yonsei University , with which he won the 2004 South Korean Cup . In 2006 he moved to Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey . With the team he was able to win the championship of this league in 2010 and 2011 with teams from China, Japan and South Korea. He also won the South Korean cup competition in 2009 and 2010. After the second Asia League title, he left Anyang Halla and joined High1 for two years . He spent the 2013/14 season with Daemyung Sangmu , the newly formed third South Korean team in the Asia League Ice Hockey, where he acted as team captain. After only a year he returned to High1 in Chuncheon . Since 2017 he has played again for Anyang Halla.

International

For South Korea Lee Yu-won took part in the U18 World Cup in 2002 , which the South Koreans won undisputed with four double-digit victories in four games, in Division III and in the U20 World Cup in 2004 in Division II.

At the 2007 Division II World Cup in Seoul , home , Lee made his debut in the South Korean men's team and rose to Division I with her. In 2008 , 2010 and 2012 he represented South Korea in Division I. After relegation in the meantime, he was once again on the ice for the East Asians in Division II in 2009 . He also participated in the in November 2012 in Nikko discharged the Olympic qualifying first round for the games in Sochi in part, 2014. There the South Koreans succeeded in kicking off a 5-4 win after penalty shootout against Great Britain . The British reached the next round, however, as South Korea suffered a 2-3 defeat after extra time in their second game against Asian opponents Japan .
