Leonie Kullmann (born August 26, 1999 in Dresden ) is a German swimming athlete .

Career

Growing up in Backnang , Kullmann was active at TSG Backnang in acrobatics, alpine skiing, athletics and swimming until 2008 . She then lived with her family in Tuscaloosa , Alabama, USA. There she started swimming at Crimson Tide Aquatics when she was 10 years old. In 2011 she moved back to Dresden and became a member of the 1st Dresden SG . She has been swimming for the Berlin SG Neukölln since 2013 .

She has been a member of the perspective team of the German Swimming Association since 2014 .

successes

In 2013, Kullmann took part in the European Summer Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht and won silver in the 4 × 100 freestyle relay. In the following year she qualified for the European Youth Championship in Dordrecht , where she won bronze in 200 freestyle and 3 × relay silver.

In 2015, Kullmann took part in the 1st European Games in Baku and won silver over 400 meters and two bronze medals, over 200 meters freestyle and with the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay. In the same year she took third place behind Johanna Friedrich and Reva Foos at the German Short Course Championships 2015 over 400 freestyle .

At the German Swimming Championships in 2016 , Kullmann took third place behind Annika Bruhn and Sarah Köhler over 200 meters freestyle . She qualified as the youngest German swimmer to take part in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . The season was twelfth.
