Leopold Nicolaus von Ende

Leopold Nicolaus Freiherr von Ende (born December 6, 1715 in Halle (Saale) , † April 14, 1792 in Altjeßnitz ) was a Saxon politician and minister. He was Grand Cross and Chancellor of the Order of Saint Heinrich . He was also the heir to Altjeßnitz, Trinum, Roitsch, Deutschenbohra and Ober-Eula.

origin

Ende came from the old noble family of Saxony von Ende and was the son of the Prussian councilor and canon of Halberstadt Monastery, Hans Adam Freiherr von Ende (born November 9, 1686 - † 1746) and his first wife Beate Sophie Juliane von Danckelmann (born January 13, 1690 ; † September 16, 1716). His mother was the daughter of the Prussian minister Bartholomäus Nikolaus von Danckelmann . August Friedrich von Ende was his stepbrother.

Life

After the dismissal of his predecessor Johann Georg Friedrich von Einsiedel by the Saxon administrator Xaver in 1766, Einsiedel's successor was appointed Cabinet Minister and State Secretary for Internal Affairs and Warfare. Because of the unfortunate negotiations with the adventurer and double agent Peter Aloysius Marquis d'Agdollo , he and his ministerial colleague Count Carl von der Osten-Sacken (1725-1794) were dismissed with little honor on March 26, 1777 .

He married Erdmuthe Henriette von Schönberg (April 4, 1718 - February 25, 1791) in Dresden on June 15, 1751 , a daughter of the royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Minister Count Johann Friedrich von Schönberg in Berthelsdorf and Nieder Ottendorf and Caroline Eleonore von Bünau from the house of Püchau. The couple had several children including:
