Altjeßnitz is a district of the town of Raguhn-Jeßnitz in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district and is located in the southeast of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Altjeßnitz is best known for its baroque maze .

geography

Altjeßnitz is located in the meadow landscape on the eastern bank of the Mulde , approx. 10 km north of Bitterfeld-Wolfen and 20 km south of Dessau-Roßlau .

history

Altjeßnitz belonged to the Saxon office of Bitterfeld until 1815 and came with this as a result of the Congress of Vienna to Prussia , where it belonged to the district of Bitterfeld . Altjeßnitz protruded like a spur into the Anhalt area and was surrounded by it in three directions. Only in the east was there a land connection to its own territory. These administrative boundaries lasted until 2010; only since then has there been a joint administration with Jeßnitz, west of the Mulde .

From the late 17th to the middle of the 20th century, the barons from the end were the landlords of Altjeßnitz. In 1694 Hans Adam Freiherr von Ende acquired the manor from the estate of the Lord von Reppichau and expanded it as the headquarter of the Ende family into an elegant country estate. In the style of the late baroque , a palace and park was built, including the maze.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipalities of Altjeßnitz, Marke , Retzau , Schierau , Thurland and Tornau vor der Heide and the cities of Jeßnitz (Anhalt) and Raguhn merged to form the town of Raguhn-Jeßnitz. At the same time, the Raguhn administrative community , to which Altjeßnitz belonged, was dissolved.

politics

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on May 19, 2008 by the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and registered under No. 23/2008 in the Saxony-Anhalt state archive .

Blazon : "Diagonally to the left divided by gold and green, at the top growing out of the division a soaring black wolf with red teeth and a knocked-out tongue, a drop of red blood falling from its throat, below the silver network of paths of a maze."

The colors of the parish are green - gold (yellow).

The symbolism of the coat of arms of Altjeßnitz, developed by the Magdeburg heraldist Jörg Mantzsch , refers to the coat of arms of the barons von Ende and the maze.

The shield is divided diagonally to the left in the colors gold (yellow) and green. Gold is the shield color in the coat of arms from Ende. Green was chosen as the contrast tincture because this color is directly related to the maze in the Altjeßnitz park.

On March 25, 2008, the municipal council decided to use the symbols and colors mentioned in the Altjeßnitz coat of arms or to submit them to official channels for approval.

flag

The flag is green - yellow (1: 1) striped (cross shape: stripes running horizontally, lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
